The Emberhail Hierarchy has been unchanged for centuries. In a strict ruling of "Peasants among Kings", Emberhail has it's fair share of upperclass and lowerclass. Royal blood holds little meaning in Emberhail- it is your achievements and heart that grant you respect and worship. Read on to discover Emberhail's Hierarchy...
Emperor - 1/1
The Emperor serves his people as supreme ruler. He, along with his wife, commands the Nation to his bidding and handles all concepts a leader should. He is the ultimate guide to Emberhail. If the Emperor dies, and the Empress remains alive, she instead takes his place as ruler. An Emperor will appoint a Minister to take his place after both he and the Empress have died. The Emperor is currently an NPC, and will not be player played.
Empress - 1/1
Chosen by the Emperor whether she likes it or not, the Empress stands as the second (and sometimes first) utmost important political status in Emberhail. Whether bound by love, or just plain old marriage, the Empress is only sworn into power if the Emperor sees fit. Her bloodlines are irrelevant. If the Emperor dies, the Empress takes place. She doesn't quite need to choose another lover to be the Emperor, and only needs to initiate a successor. The Empress is is currently an NPC, and will not be player played.
Minister - 1/1
The Minister must always be a male. He will take the Emperor's place after he and the Empress have passed. The Minister's role while they are alive is to take command while they are not present. The Minister also may occasionally act as the Empress's escort if the Emperor deems it necessary. The Minister will be very interactive with civilians, and often go out to leave Cragstrand to do tasks. Before taking hold as Emperor, or even electing someone else to be Emperor, he can be considered some sort of mercenary or scout. The Minister has many roles- and will still fulfill the rank he previously was.
The rest of the playable ranks are mostly combatant, religious, and even as low as slavery... seeing as Emberhail revolves around mastering fire bending, survival, and endurance in their unstable habitat...
Striders - 0/12
Striders are the highest combatant rank possible in Emberhail. They are never given, and must be earned. An elite force of expert fire benders, Striders are at the frontlines of battle, and are always expected to do as told. Life for Striders can be harsh, as they are given many tasks day by day. A Strider will always train a lower Military ranking if the Emperor, Empress, or Minister is unavailable to do so. Many Striders will change their last name's suffix to -strider. For the guide on suffixes, scroll down to Culture.
Assassins - 0/6
Masters of stealth, Assassins will be hereby ordered by Emberhail to carry out attacks or even murders for rewards. There are only six, for it is a difficult task and requires much training. Assassins are trained by Striders, and occasionally the Emperor/Empress. All Assassins are required to train under the Smokestave tier.
Clerics
Religious leaders, Clerics pledge faith to Sheinzibanei, and occasionally serve as healers to Emberhail. Clerics rarely initiate in combat, and when they do, they strictly use fire bending and refuse to use weapons. This can be very dangerous, though Clerics live to their words. The Emperor/Empress often brings a Cleric to any Council Meetings, if there are any.
Fire Children
The most basic of combatant ranks, almost every military member is a Fire Child. They master any of the combat Fire tiers, and serve Emberhail in any way possible. The Emperor/Empress will frequently address them to do tasks, as well as the Minister.
Trainees
Usually ages 15 - 22, Trainees are training to be any of the above ranks (except for Striders, as any rank except for slave can train to be one). They are assigned a mentor, and are taught the basics of the Tier they are learning. Once they master their 2nd tier skill, they can advance to one of the above combatant ranks.
Peasants
The civilians that hold not much importance to Emberhail, other than buying and selling goods and populating the city. Peasants usually know no more than one elemental ability, as they are not trained for combat.
Slaves
Self explanatory. You have no rights, and are sold to any of the above ranks, even a Peasant. This rank isn't really recommended as you won't have much to do other than labor IC. Freedoms are very restricted and solely up to who owns ya. All slaves are either previously criminals, captured and imprisoned from other Nations (but rarely), or half-blooded children/people that were spared life.
